DAY FOURTEEN - SECOND YEAR ENGLISH GUESS PAPER

Paragraph No. 13
Translation
Books are a strange blessing. These give us courage with sweet words like a true friend when clouds of sorrow and anxiety darken our life. When friends and relations turn away from us in adversity, books keep us company and encourage us. These give us a lesson to dominate over difficulties with courage and resolution. These are the quintessence of human wisdom for centuries, and are man's most precious heritage. It is true that all books are not good; some are more poisonous than the snake and more dangerous than the scorpion. It is necessary to avoid such books. We should choose books wisely and carefully.

Paragraph No. 14
Translation
It is the need of hour that we should spend as little as possible on weddings. It has often been observed that both the girl's and boy's parents try to spend as much as possible on the wedding. The purpose of this expenditure is to impress others. Instead of it, the parents should ponder whether the girl and boy like each other, and are they fully ready to live with each other for good in future?

Paragraph No. 15
Translation
This world has both pains and pleasures. It is not possible for anyone to get all the comforts and none of the pains. Some poor helpless persons say that they have not experienced any comfort even in a dream. It is totally untrue. If they look at someone poorer and more helpless than themselves, they will recognize the truth. Contentment is a great wealth. A really happy man is one who does no evil. What is the use of that wealth which is wasted in sinful activities? Earn your livelihood by honest means and feed your family so that you have a salvation hereafter.
